How to use an Ashleigh and Burwood Lamp?

Achieving that freshly scented, fragranced ambience in your home really is a breeze with a truly exquisite fragrance lamp, from Ashleigh and Burwood.

Pouring the fragrance liquid into an ashleigh and burwood lamp

If you’ve never used an Ashleigh & Burwood oil lamp before (note – the “oil” for an A&B lamp is actually alcohol-based, not oil! However, they do have a range of home fragrance oils if these are items you are interested in for your oil burner. We stock them at Magpie’s Nest) – these steps might help!

Be sure to follow the instructions provided by Ashleigh and Burwood for your lamps. And for our new A&B customers and fans, we’ve also summarised the steps to make the most of your lamp here in these 10 simple steps:

How to fill and light your Ashleigh and Burwood Lamp

  1. Begin by removing the lamp’s crown, as well as the snuffer cap.
  2. Take out the wick. Prepare your desired Ashleigh & Burwood lamp fragrance, and pour the liquid into the lamp so that it is two-thirds full. This is key! Don’t overfill the lamp.
  3. To avoid spills, pour downs or drips, it is recommended to use a funnel that fits, and perform this task on a protective surface so that the lamp fragrance is not wasted. (NB: The gift boxed Ashleigh and Burwood lamps come with a funnel included to make this task easier.)
  4. Once you have filled the lamp to about two-thirds full, put the cap back on.
  5. Let the lamp wick soak for approximately 20 to 30 minutes. This is called priming. It helps you to get the most benefit and ensure the fragrance is dispersed through the wick.
  6. Once the lamp is primed by step 5, you will notice that the stone has darkened. This indicates that it is ready to be used.
  7. Light the stone
  8. Let the flame burn for two to three minutes.
  9. After the 2-3 minutes are up, blow the stone’s flame out.
  10. Done! Your lamp is now prepared to fill your home with a delightful, signature Ashleigh and Burwood home fragrance you can adore, filling your home with an unparalleled scent
