Stalybridge Carnivals

Once again this year we took part in the Stalybridge carnival, with our very own baby Magpies (Primrose and Elijah) who were transported around the round in their very own little mobile nests. Let me tell you by the end of the parade Catherine & I were shattered and considering getting in the mobile nests and making the baby Magpie’s pull us for a bit! As usual it was a fantastic community day with lots of other businesses and groups all joining in. The weather was once again very kind, and at points we were swealtering under our feathers and needed to stop for a takeaway refreshment at a rather lovely little café located on Armentieres Square above a gift shop, you might be aware of it?!

It was fabulous to see so many people come out to watch the parade, it makes it all worthwhile to see so many smiling faces. I know the Stalybridge Carnival Committee work very hard all year planning and preparing the event which raised money for local charities. The Queens all looked fabulous as usual in their gorgeous dresses and sparkly crowns. After the parade everyone headed into Cheetham Park for more fun with the fun fair and stalls. We decided to fly home after walking around in our costumes as we were shattered, we aren’t spring Magpies anymore!!
We can’t wait for next years Carnival, as we are lucky to still have community events like this taking place, many towns have lost theirs over the years and especially now when money is tighter, events like this really are special and important ways to bring communities all together to enjoy the Carnival.

Keep up to date with the Carnival and get involved – I am sure they would love volunteers for next year! https://www.facebook.com/Stalybridgecarnival/?locale=en_GB
