Stalybridge Carnival

Last weekend saw the Stalybridge community come together for the Stalybridge Carnival. There was plenty of things planed as the carnival celebrations are now spread over 2 days https://stalybridge-festival.org.uk/. Saturday saw Armentieres Square filled with funfair rides and a stage which hosted Tameside’s got talent.  The Sunday saw the traditional carnival parade snake through the town, with local businesses, community groups, and charities entering floats into the parade. Following on from the Parade was the usual funfair in Cheethams Park – a beautiful backdrop for a family day out.

As a local business we entered into the carnival transforming our delivery van into a underwater wold, that showcased our Jellycat sea creatures. https://magpiesnest.co.uk/?s=jellycat&post_type=product We had such a good time designing our mini float, the tricky bit was making it all come together – we were praying for a dry day! Catherine & Katie volunteered to be our Jellyfish who would walk behind the van (they were needed in case it broke down and had to be pushed round the route!) so we created some simply Jellyfish costumes using our fabulous Lulu Guinness Birdcage umbrellas. https://magpiesnest.co.uk/product/lulu-guinness-lips-birdcage/ originally we had planned to use a standard bird cage, however we didn’t have any in stock that were the same colour.. then we spotted that the Lulu Guinness ones had lips on them, so all we would need to do was add some eyes and tentacles! Our hard work and effort paid off as we managed to get 1st place for our category , which we were delighted with.

Every year I am impressed with how many people get involved and have a go, and create a great float. The work and planning that goes into entering a float into a carnival is huge. There were some amazing entries this year which must have taken ages to plan and prepare. Its always a good show and its a credit to the event organisers.  We love being able to be a part of a great community event like this and are already looking forwards to next year!
