Community News from the Nest

Hello birds, I just wanted to hop on this week and let you know about what we have been up to over the last few months. We always want to give back to the community whenever and however we can, and each month as have a few different things we do beyond the obvious fundraising. This year we have been able to make donations with your help to Three Dads Walking, The British Heart Foundation, Leukameia & Lymphona (now known as Bloodwise) with our most recent donation going to Fundraising for Florence. Florence is a local little girls who has a incurable genetic disease,(https://www.facebook.com/fundraisingforflorence/) and as we were fundraising over Easter we wanted to support a children’s charity as Easter really is a time for the kiddies. We decided to donate the money from our Easter tree and we were able to raise £118.92, which is fantastic! Thank you so much if you made a donation or decorated an egg.
For the month of May we have decided to fundraise for Alzheimer’s Society (https://secure.alzheimers.org.uk/forgetmenot-tv?sc=DMC2304PPC&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=forget_me_not_appeal&utm_content=generic&gad=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw0tKiBhC6ARIsAAOXutn2U-bvX4w5BJFeQBWozhaFrqAEU36kwXEeFZK6icoCw4XFDo3kPbkaAiLgEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds) through our charity box and by donating 10% from a selection of forget me not items we have got in store. We also are selling mini forget me not plants and seeds with 100% of the sale price going to the charity. However it’s not just all about fundraising, we also donate our time to community groups and charities. Clara regularly litter picks along the canal and Huddersfield road, keeping our beautiful green spaces clean. We were able to give Clara a special trolley to help her move the bags she collects each week – because there are quite a lot!

This bank holiday Monday we are also going to helping out at Age Uk Charity shop as part of the Big Help Out. We are really looking forwards to being able to give our time to help with whatever tasks Janet has in store for us! 🙂 I’ll let you know next week!
